They are the perfect primers and eventually they will be perfect readers!","date":"Sep 11th 2024"},{"name":"MGM","rating":"5","title":"Must be expanded and enhanced.","text":"I have long been familiar with the American Cardinal Readers, originally published by Benziger Brothers going through several editions. then later reprinted in the ;90;s by Neumann Press, now under Tan Books. I think that now is the right time to revisit this series and enhance them. It is about time that the pre-primer, Ready to Read (very rare and never reprinted), primer and first six volumes have the colored pictures enhanced and restored. Books 7 and 8 never had color. There were special endpapers in the early editions that should be put back in. The pre-primer should be reprinted for the first time since its heyday in the series. I have originals of all of the above with lovely endpapers for books up to and including 4th grade. The higher grades may have had endpapers, but I do not have an early edition with them in. I suspect that the endpapers were removed in the later editions as a cost saver. In addition, books 5 through 8 should come back into print. There were also teacher manuals and supplemental materials to accompany the series.
